Homecoming in the South

Last weekend my husband and I visited our youngest at college.  What made this visit extra special was that it was Homecoming and hubby and I had both attended this top-ranked football university in the '70's.  There is nothing like walking around campus, reminiscing about the time we spent there, and celebrating (with the 100,000 fans who fill the stadium) our football powerhouse.  Yes, we're in the South and it was in the 80's, so the crisp fall weather with changing leaves was non-existent.  But the Quad was dotted with tents, filled with big-screen TV's tuned to other games, and lavish buffets ready for the hungry.  We stopped into my old sorority house for lunch, where the furniture and wallpaper have changed, but not much else has.  Darling girls, dressed to the max, with their dates in coats and ties were scarfing down the delicious meal of homemade fried chicken, real mashed potatoes and those green beans that can't be made without a dollop of bacon grease.  All in all, a great visit with number 3 son!

  1. Hi Nancy: cute little blog about college football! And, actually, we're responding to your inquiry about "Getting Sammied." Sam is based here in Atlanta and we're not sure if she travels...why don't you call us or email us at info@huffharrington.com and we can figure it out. Thanks, Nancy.
